Adopted
Breed
American Staffordshire Terrier & Wirehaired Terrier Mix
Meet Winnie!
Here is what we know about her past: She was found in a field with her sister in Coachella Valley and taken to the shelter as a stray. Her sister was immediately adopted, but Winnie spent at least the next 127 days at the shelter. Winnie watched as roommate after roommate came in and was then adopted out. She played well with all of them until they went to their forever homes, leaving her behind. Someone must have really liked her at this high kill shelter, because despite the horrific sadness of spending so much time there, she managed to survive.
Until they couldn't keep her any longer.
Southpaw got an email with the dogs at the shelter who would be euthanized in the next 72 hours and 10-month-old Winnie, who hasn't even had a chance to live yet, was on the list.
We went to bust her out. Here how that looked: https://youtu.be/oiZBSCoY-3k
Here is what Winnie's life is like now: After giving her a much-needed bath, Winnie now wakes up after a good night's sleep in her foster mom's room. She spends her days playing with the other dogs in her foster home, taking fun walks to get exercise, taking naps and slaying it at being a good dog.
Her future: Are you her perfect forever home? Winnie is extremely well behaved for her age and history, but she still has playful puppy energy. She is looking for a family who will shower her with the love she deserves. Ideally, Winnie would do best in a home with another dog her size to play with. Winnie is shy around new people but quickly warms up if they give her a doggy treat and tell her she's a good girl. People often comment on her unique look since she is definitely mostly American Staffordshire Terrier, but she has more wire hair.
If you think this unique, playful, well-mannered, fun-loving girl can be the right fit for your home, please fill out an application to set up a meet and greet.
