My Story

Meet Xena the warrior piglet. She had a rough start in life but she has persevered! After having puppies she was abandoned & brought into MADACC in late December. Mid January we went to meet this sweet girl & instantly knew she was going to be our foster. She is a little over a year old (est. 1yr 2mo) & 45+lbs with a beautiful brindle coat with white patches that have adorable little freckles! She has puppy energy but also loves her nap time & does need lots of playtime daily to help wear her out. Currently she can be a bit of a detective when playing with stuffed toys (tearing them apart to find out what's inside) but we are working on being gentle with the babies. She has torn up a few stuffies & 2 big stuffed beds, so this is something that needs to be worked on more with her. She can also be a bit nosey so keeping an eye on her & things out of reach is a good idea (likes to snoot in open garbage bins & pull things out). She has basic training; sit, stay, paw/five, wait, gentle with treats, not food aggressive & she let's you know when she's gotta go potty! She is good on her leash with her harness but can pull a little, she is a strong little princess! She does good with loose leash walking but occasionally barks when she sees people or dogs which is being worked on with treat distraction. She is also a built in alarm system for your home letting you know if anyone is outside (dogs or humans). Xena loves kongs with frozen yogurt, pumpkin & treats in them. She also enjoys chewing on antlers, stuffed bones, raw bones, lamb ears, beef trachea & dehydrated sweet potatoes! Xena is very happy when she goes to bed at night in her crate with her blankies! She even snuggles up there while her foster mom works from home in the office with her. She gets along with her foster brother, a 5yr old pitty mix, however a slow intro was needed. Xena has met multiple dogs & even a cat which she was great with but living in the same house will require slow intros. She also gets along great with children, toddlers & up! We recently took her to the salon to get her nails done & she was an outstanding girl! After her nails she hung out with the other dogs at the spa & then went for pup cups with her foster brother! Xena is a bit of a cling-on/shadow & likes to be next to or touching someone at all times. She would appreciate a home where someone is home with her often but if they have errands to run she is happy to wait in her crate until they get home.
