My Story

Meet Ziga, the neutered male Australian Shepherd. Ziga came to the Shelter as a stray so we do not know much about his life before the Shelter. Staff describe him as a handsome yet mischievous neutered male. He loves to be outdoors and happily engage with people. He has met a variety of dogs at the Shelter and has quickly initiated play. He will sometimes engage in herding breed behaviors (not a total shocker since he is well, a herding breed) so breed savvy adopters are recommended. Bonded with his guardian through force free/R+ paired with appropriate mental and physical stimulation will help set Ziga up for success. Patience as Ziga learns life skills and manners (house training, leash walking, etc) will be needed by his new guardians. If you are looking for an active pup to join you on lifes adventures come meet Ziga today! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locations Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end meet and greets (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
